Meeting Paul

There is something special about meeting with a great Christian thinker who is well-read in the scriptures and but who also does not neglect the arts and sciences. The politics of comedy

Being “informed” and entertained about current affairs has never been easier. Talk show hosts have been more talkative about politics and there are more satirical television programs available. Donald Trump may be disagreeable but has been at least entertaining. With Biden in office, newsrooms will have a harder time covering drama and will have to start reporting more on substance (God forbid). This article attempts to reflect on the commodifying of political coverage in general and political comedy in particular.

In the age of COVID-19, we need philosophy now more than ever

There is a common adage that “you can’t put a price tag on human life.” Doing so seems inherently wrong but it is something that people do all the time. Insurance companies need to put a price on their policies and assess the riskiness of their customers. …

Dear Christian, if you love Trump, let him go

Rebuke and ex-communication are seen as negatives in Christian life. God designed them to be tools to build up the Church and honor his name. This is my plea to the Christian right. — God uses prominent officials and statesmen to carry out his redemptive history regardless of individual goodness or injustice. God hardened the heart of Pharoah, to show Egypt, that there was a mighty God coming to free his people. …
